Our Story

Serve God by serving others…. The example lived out by our Lord Jesus, the ultimate servant

leader

The vision to plant a church began in 2003. What began as a small home group, expanded into

a congregation among the Indian-Pakistani diaspora within the greater Toronto area.

In 2016 the dream of owning a building became reality. The importance of cultural, linguistic,

communal and emotional connection were key factors in this endeavour. Many families have

given sacrificially towards this building project and we are grateful for their support - not

forgetting the generous contribution from our beloved Pastor Veena (Late Ps. Ernest Mall) and

Morning star church Philadelphia; who believed in this project and remained supportive through

the journey.

Under the leadership of Vishal Rangha and (Rafiqua ) lead and associate pastors

commissioned by the Ontario Mennonite Brethren Conference, The church has been a place of

refuge, fellowship, and learning hub within this community, where many experienced powerful

life changes.

The name Behta Darya, which means “Flowing River” in Hindi, is inspired by the vision found in

the book of Ezekiel 47, symbolizing the life, renewal, hope, and blessing that flow from Jesus

Christ.

Today, BDCC continues to serve and support the community while sharing the message of

faith, hope, and new life in Christ.

Our faith confession

God is one. He is the Creator of all things. He became flesh and came into the world as

Jesus Christ, in order to connect and have a relationship with his creation – human

beings.

Jesus came to reveal the glory of God the Father. Through his example, we learn to

love unconditionally, to forgive, to seek justice and mercy, to exemplify a compassionate

heart full of humility and sacrifice, and to be His disciples and carry out the mission of

letting others know how much they are loved by their Creator.

 

We do this because He first taught us to do so, and we use the Bible as our sole guide.

It is His written word that guides us and helps us care for our communities and develop

such a great burden to bring peace and restoration to a broken world.
